Project description
The Bonifazius Towers in Mainz dominate the cityscape due to their height. The task, set as a weekend impromptu exercise, was to restructure the current use of the towers and convert them for residential purposes. To make the towers appear lighter and more dynamic and to reduce their dominance in the cityscape, balconies were added to the façade.
By rotating the balconies on each successive storey, a dynamic appearance was created, designed to reinforce the impression that wind forces are stronger on the upper storeys than on the lower ones.
