Project description
The project is situated in a small housing estate in Wiesbaden dating from the 1920s, characterised by spacious plots and understated building volumes. The new building deliberately blends into this street scene and reinterprets its scale through a minimalist, clear architectural language.
SMALL-SCALE SETTLEMENT – ENSEMBLE – SCALE – ROBUSTNESS – PLINTH – SUPPORTING STRUCTURE
The slightly raised building and the projecting plinth give the house a distinct presence whilst conveying a sense of a stable foundation. The structure is reduced to a minimum of load-bearing elements in order to allow for a spatial layout that is as open as possible and adaptable in the long term.
